san diego food blogger bake sale!

This weekend will be the San Diego Food Bloggers edition of the Great American Bake Sale!  The Great American Bake sale was instituted in 2003 by Share Our Strength, a 501(c)(3) charity, with the goal of creating an accessible way for people to get involved in ending childhood hunger.   This is the second year that food bloggers across the country have joined under the Great American Bake Sale banner to raise funds for No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength’s campaign to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

Our bake sale will be this Saturday, May 14th, from 10-2pm in Pacific Beach.   The bake sale is being generously hosted by Great News! San Diego, home of great cooking classes and all the kitchen gadgets you wish you could justify buying (I figure if I buy one thing every time I’m there, my kitchen will be fully equipped by, oh, 2325 or so).

There will be at baked goodies from nearly 30 local food bloggers, including vegan, gluten-free, and “fully loaded” options.  Marie from Meandering Eats (aka Moowiesqrd) has also managed to coordinate a raffle with some really fantastic prizes – check out her site for the full list of prizes

Of course, you will find a few Ish-y delights there, as well.  I’m planning cupcakes.  Massive, delicious, boozy cupcakes (I may have already said too much).   Just come by and grab a baked item or two.  The weather’s going to be gorgeous, so it will be a great opportunity to stroll off any calories down by the boardwalk.  Besides, one $3 cupcake will buy 30 meals for hungry kids, which is pretty much the best guilt-free best deal around.

Great News! is located at  Pacific Plaza, 1788 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109.  Sale is this Saturday from 10am-2pm.

Hahaha… isn’t Great News the best? We registered there when we got married and whew! DANGEROUS! :)

    • Right? Why doesn’t anyone warn you about wedding registries ahead of time? I’d already envisioned owning all that kitchenware by the time the wedding was over…

  2. It was so nice meeting you today, and your cupcake was delicious!
We just finished devouring it. :)

Hope to see you again soon!

    • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It was really great meeting you too – hopefully this will be the first of many SDFB events.

It was a great event. Only came home with three goodies but wanted one of each…

    • It was really a heck of a turnout – all the treats looked ridiculously good & raised $1750 for Share our Strength!
